With over twenty years on Capitol Hill, most recently as Chief of Staff to Congressman DeFazio, KP got her start on the House Rules Committee helping her become an expert on the legislative process. She has worked for six Members of Congress who respectively represented every region of the country, and has focused on energy, environment, climate, appropriations, agriculture, budget, natural resources, and Indian Affairs issues throughout her Capitol Hill tenure. “KP’s decades on the Hill and with federal campaigns, combined with her legislative expertise and relationships in both Congress and within federal agencies will be a great complement to SDA and the work that we do,” said Jim Smith, founder and president of Smith Dawson & Andrews.

Brett Garson, who started as a law clerk in the U.S. Senate, has been with Smith Dawson & Andrews for over fifteen years, most recently as Chief Counsel and Managing Director. “Brett’s strategic thinking has been instrumental to our firm’s client work,” said Jim Smith, “His ability to develop relationships with agencies, the Hill, and key constituencies, as well as his ability to anticipate opportunities and challenges, has made him a critical part of the SDA team.”
